The Bald Canyon chicks continue to grow leaps and bounds ...

Here is a video that shares some great family interaction including a live fish that flops off the nest only to have Dad go and retrieve it and return it to the nest

Despite the rain this morning; Dad delivered two beautiful fish to the Bald Canyon family this morning.

The kids have been taking shelter under Mom at times ... but they are so big now they do not fit.

Dr. Sharpe and Jim Campbell-Spickler have been busy banding the Channel Islands chicks this week! Lots of great pictures, videos and updates shared on Facebook.

Dr. Peter Sharpe collecting the first of two male chicks on the West End nest, Catalina. "Superman" and "Thunder" are making sure he knows he should hurry up with the banding and leave! As expected, we found the solar panels and batteries responsible for powering the nest cameras smashed in a heap near the base of the cliff. This year's storms and associated winds really did a number on the system. I'll let Peter update you (via IWS channels) on a plan to get the system up and running again. Sorry folks, there's a lot of damage (and clean up) so it may take awhile.
