I agree this is unusual behaviour for the Honeycombs .In all the years I am watching this nest I never saw anything like it! I am sure there is an intruder in the area..

8:25am..Dad in with small headless fish.. and left.Mom ate the fish as was back on the egg at 8:32am

10:41am ..Mom is off the egg calling..

10:47a... Mom flew of the nest.. egg is alone ..and its raining..

11:53a.. Mom is back and settled on the egg ... Egg was alone 66 mins .

12:32pm.. Mom was of the egg calling.. and settle right back on it.

12:37pm..Dad brought Mom a fish .. he left again . Mom ate part of the fish we think.. egg is uncovered .

12:42pm. Mom is back on the egg and the rain is picking up..

1:23pm.. Mom is incubarting the egg.. and the rain is coming down

2:27pm .. Egg is uncovered Mom On the BB ..Dad is on the runway.. the mom joined Dad on the runway

3:15pm... Mom is on the egg ..Egg was uncovered 47 mins

3:52pm// Mom off the egg again and flew off .. .egg is alone

4:14 pm.. Dad is on the egg egg was uncovered for 22mins

Sharp eyes, Gail!! Just wonder who that is - maybe Mom because that's the direction she flew in?

Just got home and checking in. What odd behavior. I hope the little egg will be ok.

Don't see anything at the riverview now - but the mist has moved in so it would be difficult anyway.


Could hear a lot of trilling a few moments ago and I'm sure you heard that too, Bev and Gail.

The egg has been uncovered for a little more than 20min so far....

4:15pm - Eagle is not on tree by the river anymore. Missed the fly off.

I didn't see a band and saw that black tail feather too, Bev. I guess Mom had the buscuit and just left...Dad has settled on the egg after digging in the nest cup..I think he might have rolled the egg a bit too.



ADD: That's one mystery solved - this is our Dad. And he does remember how to incubate eggs LOL
