Something seems odd here with the both of them on branches and the egg in the open...almost like Dad has no clue about his role.
2:46pm - This appears to be a bit of a "standoff".

Wish I could stay and observe, but need to head for home. Will check in once I get there.

Continuing to send good thoughts.

Must admit I'm beginning to wonder if this is a new male - though I've been seeing a dark feather right along, and the way he sort of ignored her and went to work on the nest after bringing the most recent food seemed Dad-like to me (or at least like something an established partner would do).

It's so hard when there's nothing we can do - but it is early in the incubation process, so the egg is likely more resilient to getting chilled. Keeping fingers crossed....

I should be back online in 45 minutes or so.

3:02pm - They are both still on the branches and Mom is doing a lot of "talking " and Dad is answering when he can get a word I'm edgewise, Lol.

3:06pm - Dad hops over to Mom and they mate. Now they are side by side.
