How can you tell them apart? I haven't noticed any things that are unique to one eagle.

I go by size and behaviour Janet and some times I could wrong! LOL
The males are smaller than the females.... and in my experience the male when incubating /brooding keep themselves busy by fussing with the bedding and usually the female is always on the nest at night .

Some pairs have well defined characteristics like an inverted V in their neck ruffle ... dark markings on their tail feathers and or their wings criss cross at the back over their tail feathers.. or a broken tail feather .. but I haven't seen anything like that with the Stanley pair ... and of course with this cam it is harder to see things ...

The most obvious differences between male and female Bald eagles are their size. Females are usually a third of the size larger than males. Females tend to weigh between ten to fifteen pounds more. Females will typically have a wingspan of up to eight feet.M

You are very welcome Janet and maybe we can learn from one another ... I am filling in here for Donna until she returns but I have to say I am getting attached to this nest ... Smile
