H & M Are Away~Views Of Perch Spots From Nest Area 09-28-16

Harriet and M15 were not seen at the nest tree this morning. While waiting to see if either one would fly in, I show the perch spots they use that can be seen from the nest area, plus a view of one of M15's stick piles.

Harriet and M15 each added a stick this morning before their alert calls and tracking took them across the road by another eagle. M did bring another stick which caught on the power line and sent he and the stick flying apart. M flew NNW and H flew SW. The sunrise was beautiful, the moon brilliant and a rainbow in the pasture helped make this 1st year anniversary of Ozzie's passing less hard as I feel his spirit still here in the pastures, watching over M, H and their future offspring. RIP Ozzie.

Florida Bald Eagle Nesting Season officially begins today. Very Happy It runs October 1 - May 15.

On this first official morning of FL Bald Eagle nesting season, Harriet and M15 delivered... 15 sticks (H-2, M-13) and 2 bunches of grasses by M. M even added a stick with acorn tops and leaves attached. Their ease of entry with nesting material is amazing to see, with M using Harriet as a "step down" only once when he added beak and talons full of grasses. Nest discussions showed us tender and dominant moments. H & M took time out to remind another eagle pair of the "home" boundary lines. Also Harriet soared the skies while M watched. Here are nest comparison photos (9-30 and 10-1). Video later.
