Harriet & M15's Bond And Nest Grow~19 Sticks, An Alligator & Turtle 09-21-16

Harriet and M15 added 19 sticks and M brought grasses in 2.5 hours this am. M saw roadkill alligator in the road, making four passes at it before I removed and placed the roadkill far from the road. You will see good views of branch breaking & grabbing, hang time, stick placement discussions and flights & landings.The nest looked wonderfully full and higher when I left at 10:00am.

6:00am-8:45am - It was an early morning of relaxation for Harriet and M15 who exchanged Good Morning vocals in the nest tree. One stick was added by Harriet after M15 flew SE and out of sight. Harriet tried for another branch in the distant SW tree line and that was the last I saw of her. Video later.

Both Are Home On A One Stick Morning 09-22-16

It was an early morning of relaxation for Harriet and M15 in the nest tree, exchanging Good Morning vocals and watching the area. One stick was added by Harriet after M15 flew SE. Harriet tried for another branch in the distant SW tree line but never returned while I was there.

Harriet and M15 did not come to the nest while I was there from 6-9am. One, probably Harriet, was perched in the west pasture before flying to a tall pine behind Eagle Landing (the shopping center). There was a fly-by through the west pasture by M15 or another eagle but Harriet did not acknowledge it. Comparison photos from 9-22-and 9-23 appear the same. I am also posting a photo of how the nest looks when viewing from the back pond area. The nest looks great. I will post a video shortly.

No Nest Visit~Adult Perches Nearby~Flyover~Nest Views 09-23-16

Harriet and M15 did not visit the nest while I was there from 6-9am. Harriet was perched in the west pasture before flying to a tall pine across the road. There was a fly-by through the area by M15 or another eagle but Harriet did not acknowledge it. There is also footage of the pasture pond, how the nest looks from there, a Great Blue heron perched in the pasture and cattle egrets "grazing" with a palomino horse.

GROUND OBSERVATIONS - Saturday, September 24

Harriet flew right in to the nest from the NW, just before 7am. She vocalized, preened and watched the area before flying back NW just before 8am. M15 and Harriet crossed paths as M flew in to an upper branch of the nest tree with nesting material in his beak, only to lose it little by little to the ground. M15 watched the area and never entered the nest or vocalized before flying back NW about 8:15am. A check of the power poles showed neither was perched there and they had not returned to the nest when I left at 9am. Building a nest suitable for eggs is all on eagle time. H and M will start to build the crib rails and add more soft nesting material for the nest bowl. Comparison photos, 9-23 & 9-24, of the nest from both church and pond views. Video later.
