Thank You Judy for the exciting pics from this morning, great one of Dad trying things out...lol! the nest I mean!

well, I had another busy day, and just now getting here....Mom is
patiently waiting ....perhaps for a dinner fish.....just preening and enjoying the warm late day sunshine
The nest looks even better today, lots of fluffy grasses filling in the open spots between branches and sticks

It truly amazes me how quickly osprey can build or rebuild a nest Smile

Dad drops in - right on Mom's back - no Hi Dear I'm home!

He performs his fatherly duty

And flies off - not once touching down on the nest or acknowledging Mom being more than a sex object Grin

He did come back three minutes later with a new stick - not much of a thank you mam, He could have at least brought her a fish. sigh sign

Grin Not to worry Bet, Mom knows he adores her. loveRed Heart Look at the beautiful nest he has built in such a short time, as Michelle noted.wave Dad is just making sure that those eggs are well-fertilized by her one and only and deservedly so. Whistling

I popped in once this afternoon only to find an empty nest so I didn't stay. Judy must think we had all abandoned her...thanks for the morning s'caps and reports. I love the picture of Mom and Dad side by side on the nest, so adorable.

As to the bright evening I think the near full moon has a lot to do with it as it was darker earlier until it rose and moved over the river. That was what happened last year too, the nest was brighter as the evening wore on. Of course there may be more lights at that end too due to the pathway right there.

8:20 pm I'm using the cam time for my posts even though it is a couple of minutes slow. I'm had the cam up since 7 pm and Dad was in and out a lot with Mom away once too but this is the longest she has waited for his return. Maybe Dad heard you Bet and has gone fishing...fingers crossed

8:30 pm Mom remained alone on the nest and moved a few sticks, then left while I was away from the cam.

At 8:42 pm Dad brought in a tangled wad of grass(?) mid-nest and departed quickly. Mom returned at 8:45 and Dad landed nearly on top of her with a large strip of moss which Mom is still working on at 8:55 pm as darkness descends.

I'm not sure what Dad is after now but he is building quite the nest this year. Nothing is too good for his lady love.Wub

9:00 pm Mom waits quietly at mid-nest observing the river. It may be that she feels the need to remain on the nest to guard it since it has moved, and Dad is certainly building it up wonderfully well.

I forgot to add that yesterday's temperature of 27 C broke a record set in 1910. Today was about 10 degrees cooler but still above normal and we had lovely sunshine Sunny most of the day. Tomorrow is supposed to be back up in the 20's with some badly needed rain predicted for the weekend. Very Happy

The light seemed to change at 9:12 pm so maybe there is a night cam on the nest this year? Or perhaps some streetlights nearby...as you suggested Judy.

Mom left shortly thereafter but returned again for a few minutes before leaving again at 9:22 pm. Time to tuck in to the treetops I guess. Good night Osprey

I haven't been watching full time but not much of interest has been going on other than the usual stop and go.

..... well that changed.

Dad brings home a chunk of lumber -- good luck to him finding a place for that before it falls off the nest.

Yikes, someone flew too close and Dad reacted. I have no idea what it was.
