Hi all of you,

I just want to say that this nest is something very special for me this year, I have followed Ozzie and Harriet since last season beginning. The story of Ozzie has been tough to accept. Ozzie, fly high and fly free for ever!

I will however follow Harriet's future willingly. I have no pics or videos to offer - I will follow you others and enjoy the community. I thank you others for your pics, vids and comments in advance! Love from Finland!

NEST ACTIVITY for 10-05-15 continued

All reports by wskrsnwings

7:05-7:45 Rain has stopped. Harriet is on the higher power pole. The SA is on the adjacent lower pole. She is preening. The SA (sub adult) is watching the area.
7:45 The SA initiates vocalizations. Harriet joins in with a "head-up" vocal.

8:00 SA flies toward east and Harriet follows. They are out of sight. I hear vocals from both. They fly right back to the power poles.

8:00-9:10 Both preen and vocalize some. Harriet does "head-up" vocals twice. The SA initiates vocals also. The SA preens more than I have ever seen him. He also spreads his wings for a long period. Harriet appears more relaxed and comfortable than I have seen her in a long time. The SA looks relaxed too but remains very watchful over the territory.

9:15 I am headed home. Both are still perched on separate power poles. Rain has started again.

Thank you for the updates everyone. Good to know that Harriot appears outwardly more relaxed.

I notice elsewhere that many are now wishing for the return of M15. I don't but not through any malace but just being careful what I wish for. We very sadly saw what happened to Ozzie when all the wishing came true, I would hate to see this happen to another male at this nest. I also think the stress of that would not be good for Harriet. We often forget that Raptors can be quite highly strung as a species.

I have a question but first would like to thank all of the moderators and other users for the wealth of knowledge they provide to us everyday! All of the hours that are dedicated to this nest and others are greatly appreciated! Thank You I would also like to thank the Pritchetts for allowing everyone on their property so the entire world can learn the way of the eagles!

Now for my question....What does the "head up" gesture mean in eagle language? I have seen it referenced a lot lately.
