to the forum jazz!
To attach a jpeg so it shows up, you use the 'file' tags. They're located in the formatting box, above the reply box. Click on 'file' which will look like this
[ file ] [ /file ] (minus spaces)
then put the number 1 in between the middle brackets like this
[ file ]1 [ /file ] (again minus spaces)
If you have 3 photos to attach, it will look like this
[file]1[/ file]
[file]2[/ file]
[file]3[/ file]
Maximum is 3 jpeg attachments. (the forum won't allow png, bmp, etc. to post at this time)
Hope this helps and can't wait to see your photos!

Have been watching since Hornby but never looked into taking screen shots until now. Are the programs y'all have suggested in the past 2 years still the ones to use? Would like to try to capture the shots but not sure how to do so. Please let me know if there are any newer programs or should I use some of those suggested in these earlier posts?
Thanks,

Hi reverdeb, welcome to the HWF forum.
After a quick look at the suggested programs, it looks like they are mostly still around in updated versions.
Faststone (free for 30 days, $19.95 to purchase): http://www.faststone.org/download.htm
Capturewiz: (free for 30 days, $39.95 to purchase): http://pixelmetrics.com/
Here is a site that reviews several free programs - http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-fr ... e-tool.htm
I am currently trying out ScreenshotCaptor one of the free programs recommended. It takes a bit of getting used to but once used a few times I think I am going to stick with it. It saves directly to a file folder and names the scaps automatically if you choose and also has a pretty good editing program with it which is a plus - you don't have to open another program to edit if you want to. Here is a link telling you what the program can do. http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/M ... index.html
My suggestion is to try a few out as they are free (or have a free trial period) and see which one you like. If you decide you don't like a program it can always be uninstalled.
If you have any questions or need help, just PM me!
cheers,
gemini

for s'caps I use Greenshot, its free, comes with an editor, and can save to clipboard, office docs, or open in editor.
Here's the popup you get when you take a screen shot

And in the settings you can set up a preferred folder to save to and a format (JPEG). Then when you select "save directly using preferred settings" it will save to your folder as your format, and give it a name with the date.

I would like to upload a .wmv file, but it doesn't work using the instructions for uploading still images. Can this be done?

Sorry, Rachel, our software does not allow for movie files to be uploaded. That's why our videos of our eagle nests are found on YouTube, preferably the HWF YT page. Our members then post links to the videos. Thanks for your interest though. You can post screenshots however. Instructions are found here:
