What a delight to get up this morning and see what I could not see for sure last night. The first chick has indeed hatched. Welcome to the world little one.

I also have emails from Tarnia and her family who put their heads together last night and came up with the names of Ariel for the first chick and Hunter for the second. I think it's a great choice. Thanks, Tarnia, Will and the boys.

I looked up the name Ariel and found that it means a spirit of the air so these are very appropriate names.

Welcome little Ariel.

ETA: I forgot to mention that I have informed David Hancock of the hatch and the names that have been chosen for the eaglets. He is so thrilled and amazed that Ma was able to stand still long enough on her broken leg to conceive these eaglets. We were both so afraid that the eggs would prove to not be fertile.
