This is as astounding turn of events (and unseasonal). I hope this egg will be OK. As for the platform information, that is just outstanding how Enmax came through.
You all my friends are invaluable, wonderful, delightful, and I am honored to know you.

Seeing Mom laying on that nest in the snow is enough to make me cry. I don't know how much cold an osprey can handle.
If we lose an egg so be it, but I hope and pray we don't lose a parent because of this.

Snowfall Warning
Issued at 4:34 a.m. MDT Saturday 3 May 2014
Summary

Snowfall - overnight to early morning Sunday. A long period of snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm continues. Up to 10 to 15 centimetres of snow has fallen overnight. An additional 10 centimetres of snow will fall today. However, some localitiies can expect to see a further 20 centimetres of snow by Sunday morning. The bulk of the snow is accumulating on colder surfaces while the snow falling on paved surfaces is still melting in some areas. Heavy snow will taper off Sunday morning but may develop again Sunday afternoon.

7:26 am
Mom is partially standing to turn the egg and she beaks at the snow. She tried to move one chunk out of the bowl but it kept falling back in. She soon settled onto the egg again.

Not comfortable -- she moves the egg and resettles.
I am surprised that she didn't try to shake the snow off her back.

Judy, I hope and pray also that Mom is OK in this snow. You have clear thinking so now I know where to focus my thoughts.

Dad arrives and Mom is up flapping wildly to clear her wings.

Mom flew off and now Dad takes over. I am happy to see they are sticking to their normal routine as difficult as it is.
The snow is coming down heavier now. Sad
The only problem I foresee with Dad incubating is that he is so much smaller which will make it more difficult for Mom to fit herself into the snow-bowl later as it fills in around Dad.

9:15am MDT

I am up - had a terrible nights sleep. I foresee a nap in the near future

Judy, I could not agree more - an egg lost is nothing compared to Mom and Dad's survival. Neither were on the nest for at least an hour and a half during the night. The snow looks to be about 5/6inches deep (13/15cm)

I hope my thoughts of snow being a good insulator protect Mom. People dig caves in the snow for protection and survival. All we can do here is have good thoughts and send prayers.

I am anxious to hear if the 22x pair are able to even think about nest building in these conditions.

My stream stopped at 7:15am MDT. I will review what I have later and if any thing worth reporting is on it, I will post it.

Mom stood and the egg is visible - no snow on the nest bed now

Bluebird1

wave Good morning everyone.

Mom is bravely holding the fort, I think she was considering not getting back on that egg last night and I wish her instincts hadn't held her to it. Like you, Judy and Bet I know that this egg is nothing compared to Mom and Dad's survival. I'm afraid our summerlike weather lured her into laying the egg too early this year.Sad

The good news is, the temperature is not that bad and yes Bet, the snow is insulating. I walked through nearly 4 inches to put feed out for the birds this morning (which a mule deer promptly ate) and it felt quite warm.

Not sure Mom is that warm though, she is not an eagle whose bulk and feathers would afford much greater protection from the elements.

10:23 am. Dad just flew in to make Whoopee. Oh My Took Mom by surprise, and she got up and shook the snow and moisture off and has resettled on the egg. sigh sign
