She returns.
She has spent most of her time standing looking about, and I'm sure waiting for Dad to return.

SMom flew in from across the river

She stood in the nest bowl looked all around the surrounding area - again as Judy said - as if she was looking for her mate. She paid no attention to the nesting material. She left after 6 minutes, and just returned as I type this.

I noted something rather interesting. A Magpie has been coming to the nest whenever SuperMom leaves. I just sat and watched it. It picked up sticks and rearranged them - moving them toward the outer rim of the nest bowl (well square). I wonder if they are thinking of building their nest in a portion of the bowl. Strange anyway.

I also am beginning to think the sand bar attached itself to the island and is now our new shoreline - it really looks like thick gooey mud!

BET-- I looked at this yesterday, when I popped down to the view site--- I think that shore line is going to get covered up here pretty quickly -- the spring run off from the mountains and upstream has not really begun....it does look mucky doesn't it....but a lot of it is river rock too --- the cam just doesn't show as much detail......and like last year, the old sand bar that we used to see mid river just beyond the nest platform really just got "pushed/washed away" by the flood, but there is a huge one now just east, or left of what we see through the camera....

A face off between SuperMom and MockingBird. Mom landed and was immediately followed in by the Bird. Mom vocally and with posture threatened it. It just flew up and back down - back and forth they went for a full minute. Bird finally flew off and Mom stood as the winner

Nice to see the sunshine today after the snow yesterday. Can we hope that was the last of it ?
Mom is still on the nest. She has done a bit of preening but mostly watches the river area.
