Good morning, Karen, yojopro and Chehalis River friends!wave

Thank you, Karen, for the update on what salmon we're seeing. I wish I knew my fish better! So excited about seeing the Chehalis flats cams up and running!

10:02 a.m.: With the sunlight shimmering prisms down through the water, we're getting a dazzling psychedelic light show this morning! Very few salmon swimming by.

Yesterday we learned from the fish people who do the counts that there are currently over 200,000 salmon out in the Harrison River. We just aren't seeing them on our cam right now because they are not part of the run that originated in this channel where our cam is located. Salmon swim back up to their place of birth to do their spawning.

Thanks for that, Karen! I touched base to see if there were any fish going by - since there were none this am for Sue, but - no fish yet.

ADD: I will be in Victoria this w/e and my hosts are thinking of a trip to Goldstream Park - where the salmon are now running. If I get some good picts, is it worth posting them? And, if so, where?

Thanks

Probably here
I haven't heard if many fish are coming in yet. It may be a bit early. But it is a lovely spot anyway and the weather is promising. Hope you enjoy your visit!

Morning Sue and salmon watchersSmile I see some salmon heading upstream - coming in a more steady stream than previously. Although, they do look to be battered - not as bad as we have seen.

We used to have cams at Goldstream until someone left one pointed at the sun and ruined it. They were both above ground and underwater depending on the water levels and we saw some amazing things there that David Hancock has incorporated into his PowerPoint presentations.
