Here is a comparison of the new male to our Dad O of all the previous years
It's not the best view, but this is the only front view of the new male so far.
Note his chest has less dark feathers, and the top head markings are different.

Yippee Yi O Ki Yay........!!!
Thanks, Bet, for the camparison and further catches of them at the nest. I have been checking the nest but didn't today before I went out and should have as our bird line mentioned that an osprey was seen at Carburn Park as Janet mentioned.
Mom doesn't waste much time, does she?
We are supposed to have two warm days in a row so they can get started on the nest before the next snowfall on the weekend. It has been unbelievably cold this spring (?) but at least most of the ice is off the river.
eta Forecast has changed so great nest-building weather all weekend and just a one-day blip on Mon.
One osprey, think it's Mom, on the nest when I looked in at 4:33 pm and still there 12 min. later, just sitting on the rail closest to the cam, grey sky and river today but 13C, about normal for this time of year.

:hello: BET,
Was just going to post the above, I was happy to see the male arrive just after 8:30 pm. Mom was on the nest box alone at 5:21 pm and I came back at 7:23 and there were no sticks added yet. She sat and called from all sides to no avail and finally went out to fetch the sticks by herself just after 8 pm.
When her male friend came in they sat side by side just looking all around but mainly at the river for over 20 minutes. I saw the mating attempt and hope that he connected, he certainly slid off her awkwardly at the end and left around 9 pm, Mom shortly after.
So glad to see Mom back looking as strong as ever and with a new beau.
Lots of time to perfect his technique while they build the nest, lol. :p
At least a week?

7:26 a.m.
Mom has moved to the back of the nest and the back of her head shows. The cam is zoomed in a little too close.

Now she has moved to the far corner with her fish leftovers in her talons.

Trust an O to never be still. She has now moved to the back of the nest again. The male hasn't shown any interest in her meal so maybe he's content to digest a breakfast he had earlier.
