Here at last are a few of my pics from the day we installed the new cam at Lafarge on Sept. 4. All photos are double clickable to see them full screen size.

Here are David and his two helpers on the way up in the lift. Ken can been seen under the tree working on the electrical box and his blue van nearby. Also notice Lafarge's PTZ security cam on top of the tower building next to the tree. This is the cam we have been using to show you the nest these last three seasons.

Here you can see the electrical box on the tree now located in a lower position only about 10 ft. off the ground. This way if there are problems Ken can work on them without disturbing the eagles. Last year the box had been placed about 30 ft. up the base of the tree which David considered too close to the nest to chance causing alarm to the eagles. So we could do nothing about the cam problems until the eagles migrated this summer.

This is the conveyer belt and the huge sand/gravel piles, upon which one of the fledgings was seen sitting while a loader was actively working the pile. Because the eaglets hatch in this busy, noisy environment, they are not afraid of it.

This shows the Burrard Inlet where there is a barge unloading its gravel onto the conveyer belt. In the distance are the North Shore mountains.

This shows the Sea Bus which is a passenger ferry across the inlet between Vancouver and North Vancouver. In the background is the Lions Gate bridge.

As we were leaving, Ken was still busy at work on getting all the necessary connections to the box and then microwaved over to the Lafarge office. Thank you Ken!!
