Wonderful Rick! That is a beautiful osprey and probably highly relieved to be off the balcony.
Hopefully he can leave where he is soon to be on his way.
Thank you!

I imagine they'll release her somewhere close to the river, certainly not from the balcony. There are quite a few sky scrappers in the area, too many potential accidents for a young stressed out bird. They were excited to see an Osprey, they don't get too many O's in, lots of Hawks but not too many O's. I'm happy they don't see all that many, the fewer the better.

Thanks, Rick - that sounds like a much better choice.

WOW...Rick, I just want to say how happy, thrilled, excited, and grateful I am that you rescued this precious O'juvie! It must be an incredible feeling to know you did this. Thank you!! Bravo
Your photos are amazing and show just how beautiful this bird is. I know it's just speculation, but my gut tells me that it's our juvie...the time frame matches the period that our 3rd chick has not been seen at the nest...even when food has been delivered, which just seems too unusual.
Did you find out if this juvie is male or female?

3:49pm 2 chicks on the nest. the water looks quite still, and I take it there are dark clouds overhead based on the dull grey water.

Another question, Rick, if you don't mind - will the chick be banded before she's released? There's no way to tell if he/she is the third chick from this nest - but if a chick returns with a band, that would certainly suggest it was!

They were speculating that it was female by the weight. Not sure how accurate that may be but they commented that it's likely a female when weighed.

and yes it is a pretty cool feeling to have helped a beautiful creature like that out. I've rescued hawks, falcons and owls but there was something special about this O. Maybe I felt close to it by watching the Cam and seeing all the s'caps here.

4:01pm - Oops...chick/fish almost slip off the nest as chick is repositioning its food.
