12:21 pm After a few bites earlier the fish has been left uneaten. Yesterday when a whole fish was brought in just after 2 pm if I remember correctly it took forever for that fish to be eaten even though a sibling was finishing up a fish on the other side of the nest. Maybe this is the same chick who had trouble eating his whole fish yesterday too.

12:25 pm He has taken the fish off the edge of the nest now and dragged it over to 3 after calling out. Now this seems to suit him better and he is working on the fish once more.SmileFish:

Bye, Bev, I'm off as well. wave

Mom(?) in with a fish. Chick on the nest mantles the fish she has, and drags it to the lower left corner, away from the arriving adult. Mom looks around a while, and decides if the chick doesn't want the fish, she'll eat it.

Chick continues to do occasional flaps, and is looking at something off to the right. Mom continues eating her fish, totally oblivious. I'm wondering if one of the other chicks is in sight - that wouldn't concern Mom because her current job is to provide fish for chicks - but would upset the resident chick, who might have to share. Smile

A second chick arrives and foolishly goes after the fish of the first chick.

The new arrival does seem to be mantling, but it does not look as if he/she got any of the fish. Mom continues to eat her fish in peace at the back of the nest - and I am positive that she'd share if the chick approached her.

I was away from the computer for a few minutes, and it looks as if Mom has finished her fish and left, and original chick is eating away at her fish, while newly arrived chick is just hanging out, taking an occasional casual glance in the direction of the fish.

2:13-2:24pm - The chicks have been mesmerized by something they're watching behind the nest box. So much so, that the chick at 7 hasn't taken a bite of the fish she has.

2:38pm - A whole flock of dark birds pass by while the chicks continue to watch something behind the nest box.

Okay I am finally back from my rescue of a juv' Osprey. They poor guy was trapped on a balcony 16 floors up, the balcony was very small, too small for a full wing span. As such I think he/she is likely just fine. I covered him up and took him to our local wildlife rehab centre. Where they check'd him out fully, he seems just fine but they'll keep him for observation to make sure. I'll post pic's asap.
