From 10:06 am

I thought I was going to get a s'cap of Mom alone at the nest - but discovered I also caught the arrival of the first chick. I love these lucky coincidences!

Hi JudyB, Nice s'cap.

I didn't even see the fish when Mom came in as all four worked so well together guarding it and the nest. I'm afraid that maybe B.K.'s "helpful" young bachelor is trying to steal Mom's hard-won fish.

This is worrisome to say the least, of course it could have been another fledgling too - we'll never know..

11:02 am Youngster returned and tried to steal the fish but was not successful.

The fish has been hauled up to 2 now and eater is enjoying it while the rival looks on. Our other youngster made an early half-hearted steal attempt but is now in submissive posture at 12. I think that this is our last-born, most timid youngster.

11:11am Now the fish is moved to 8 and is stood upon while the youngsters on the riverside of the nest call continuously with the one at 12 mantling.

11:15 am He picks at sticks and moves around the nest, then returns to 1, still calling out and flaring his wings.

11:48 am Alone again, our hoarder calls out alarmed.

11:49 Reinforcements: one flies in to help guard, both calling out and flaring wings. Too bad that fish won't be shared and gobbled up.

11:56 More calling and mantling and the third chick flies in to help.

11:59 All three look up and two osprey fly over the nest - Mom chasing intruder?

12:00 pm Possible intruder has landed on the nest at 12, I believe! Battle by one let at the front of the nest.

12:02 pm NO It is another fish in but Mom stayed and absorbed her youngster's nonsense! Now both young with fish are showing big wings.
Mom looks up and calls out and our poor fishless one shrinks down in the
right corner.

12:05 pm Mom flies off.

12:07 pm NOW a fourth juvenile flies above the nest, hovers and moves on.

11:59 am
Looks like another intruder in the area - all three chicks on the nest and on alert, and I got a glimpse of someone flying over.

12:00 noon
Adult landed on the nest - and I think it's Mom with fish, and hope she comes away with all her talons as the chick to her right looks to be pulling very hard in his/her attempt to get the fish.

Looks as if the chick in the back is waiting, and the one on the right almost appears to be in submission. (I suspect it's very noisy there now, and I'd be tempted to have my hands over my ears, if I were nearby.)

Chick has the fish now.

Chick with fish and the one in back both had wings spread - think they may be seeing a potential intruder, unless the one in back has a fish. The one on the right (#3?) is mostly trying to keep out of the way.

12:06 pm
Mom flew up towards the cam.

Fourth chick.

Screen froze as I took the s'cap so I'm guessing he/she flew off - only three on nest a moment later when I finished the save.

12:00 to 12:07 Events to fast for me to screen cap - reviewing recording to get images. Intruder fly over. Mom delivers fish - Mom leaves - Fourth chick plays at starting to land then flies off. Images will follow.
