Lots of morning activity but I'm still seeing the same osprey each time.
Sticks being brought into the nest and lots of building going on.

I am trying to get as many s'caps of the top of it's head as I can so that we have something to compare.
The speed this osprey is coming and going it could well be two of them but the head pattern is identical each time.
If there are two of them I wish they would come to the nest together. It would sure make our job easier. But it also doesn't help when the wind is blowing and messing up their feathers.

Also, it does have a "necklace" but not a dark distinctive one that I would expect to see on a female.

Arrives again but this time decides to stand gazing around the area. That wind looks brutally cold this morning.

A visit from another magpie. Our O doesn't seem to mind that it's perched on the nest box. It is amazing how much they tolerate the magpies when there are no eggs or chicks on the nest.

For the past two hours I've watched the same osprey coming and going from the nest. I am certain at this point that only one has arrived this season. I really do hope nothing has happened to the mate and that it returns soon.

Judy - I have been watching for several hours now also. I have only seen the one Osprey and from all I can see - it appears to be the same. Judging by the behavior of nest building, it is probably the male - not the female. The pair were very similarly marked so without two to view - ???? Anyway for now, I will call this the male

In this series of images, Dad is trying to place the stick to fill the gap between the nest box and the support pole.

What happens if the mate does not return?
