Dad(?) arrived at the nest, with food. I was thinking it was something dark, but comparing my s'cap with Sandra's, I think it was another silver fish.
Mom left.
Dad moved over to incubate the chicks, though they seem to be outside at the moment, leaning against him and being mostly shaded by him.

After a couple of minutes of wiggly chicks poking under his feathers, Dad scooped the chicks up and tucked them in for a more formal bit of brooding.

OK, I must ask: How do you all make the collages? I am not liking the restrictions to a single s'cap - esp. if one wants to show a sequence to clarify an event. Many posters have found a way around this by doing the "collages" as a single File.

What's the trick? Program? App?

I use the free version of PhotoFiltre - Skipper has done some video tutorials of how to use it!

4:38p - I see it's Dad on the nest brooding with his wings away from his body.
He's up for a little pushback to the lets. They seem to want to be out from under him.

4:40p - Time for a little feeding. Wish he'd move so I could get the babes in sunlight.
The let at the back got all the food. Toward the end, it looked like Dad was
offering the one in front food and he seemed to want it but it never happened.

4:49p - Feedings over and Dad is doing the rocking motion to brood.

4:51-52p - He isn't really settled it doesn't seem. He's making odd motions with
his head like he's grabbing at something...the nesting probably. He's settled now facing 9-10.

4:56-5:00p - He just can't find a comfortable spot. He rocks over the chicks, then
moments later rocks again. He was at 5 but has now turned back and rocks somemore
to now face 9-10 again.

5:01-05p - Here we go again...he has moved and tucks the chicks under to face 3
and is pulling at the prey remains in front of him.
Something is really bothering him....mites in the nest? He acts like something is biting
him. Up again and making quick motions in his turns. He's now at 5.

All of my 'positions' are based on the WA clock.

5:07p - Rocking and moving again...maybe chicks are tickling him moving
under there....he's turned to face 12 now moving the nesting & pulling at one of the fish.

5:11p - I think he's found a somewhat comfortable position now. He has debris
on the left side of his upper beak below his nostril.

5:14-20p - Just spotted one of the chicks. He's picking at the nesting.
He's up again and digging in the bowl. One of the chicks is part way out from under
and the other one is peeking out. The stream is jerky making his movements seem
faster than they are I think. He's moved to the 3 spot now.

5:21p- - On the move again....little yawn....that was an adjustment to 4.

5:23p - Moving and bowl digging...perhaps he just can't keep the chicks
covered and that's what this is all about. He keeps pushing them back like they
were still eggs. (-: He seems warmer than usual.

5:27-33p - More adjusting positioned at 5 now.

This was @ 5:19

5:37p - He nodded off for a moment. Some looking around but not a whole lot.

I'm out for a few @5:40

Great observations Annie, I love the photos, but also enjoy reading about the action too.

Kitemonkey, thanks for all the effort put into your video.
I snapped this photo from the video of little Charlie before Delta hatched.

5:53p - Back for a few minutes and I see he is still @4...finally a comfortable spot.

5:55p - Up and pushing the chicks and digging a little just inside the bowl rim.
He resettles @ 2.

5:57-59p - Up again and the chicks are partially out peeping...so sweet. He's
really getting into the digging. Chicks are protesting him moving over them. He's @1.

The tide is really out.

6:01 - Peeping from one of the chicks...hungry maybe.

Out @6:02
