Quote by: terrytvgal Quote by: IrishEyesHi ..Is anyone else having a problem with the Smileys ?... i have been unable to hide them..:dunno:
Me too Bev....
And the cursor is blinking all the time as I'm typing VERY Annoying ( I curse that cursed cursor )
one of the optimizations I've tried is moving all of the javascript to load "last" (which is one of the general rules of web pages - load javascript last)
The problem is - this is a VERY complex site - and loads all manner of things from all over the map. The home page loads 109 different files of various types and from quite a few different sites not the least of which are google and facebook.
The GLfusion system puts much of the javascript in the header file by default. Now that I've moved it all to the footer, things seem a bit faster in general but now you're telling me that some stuff is not working correctly.
I'm also noticing that the menu explosion is still with us - so that has not been fixed. I'll likely put it back the way it was. That should fix things like the smilies.
richard
It is back mostly the way it was - let me know

Better Now. Smilies aren't opening and my cursor isn't blinking at me as I type.
seems quite speedy for me too - compared to this afternoon.
I came for the eagles, and stayed for the friends I made

I had to refresh the blue writing page 3 X before it landed on the right page. I even waited till it stopped the "waiting" to get there

Richard, is this the 'menu explosion' you were referring to:question: This happes to me all the time; more so now than it did a few months ago. I've changed my forum settings so I don't have as many topics/threads/posts on a page and it doesn't help.

The time it takes to build and send a page depends on the number of images on it and the size of each - I've turned off banners because many are "too big" and at this point every bit counts
The system needs more RAM to deal with the load - and the current system can't take more than the 8 Gigs it has in it - so it needs to be replaced.
In the mean time I've cut back on the number of posts/page and the number of images/post (and turned off the biggest problem - PNG files because many of them were multi-megabyte when they should have been 50K)
it is hatching time - and the system is busy - I'm holding it together but need your patience.
We're about 300% over this time last year by the way. If the Google ad revenue keeps up it will pay for a new machine.
