I think twins are quite common as 2 eggs are usually laid. If food is plentiful, parents will put equal effort into raising both chicks.

In what I call the "upstage" nest furthest from the camera, I don't think one egg is viable, as the 2 eggs usually hatch within 24 hours of each other.
