5:57 pm
SR arrived.

6:08 pm
She's still on the nest and doing a bit of chattering occasionally. If she's expecting a fish she's 1/2 hour too late.

Oh dear Judy....That is sad. Poor Dad. He's finally able to resume his duties and no one takes him up on it? Welcome stray chicks.
I'm having trouble believing that the chicks would leave this early. The weather Is warm and the fish seem abundant. I do worry about intruders after Dad's injury and the ensuing threats to the nest but things seem to have settled down a bit now.

The spoiled one got her fish after all. Dad delivered.

Dad left and then he returned quickly and left again.
SR is mantled and chattering.
6:21 pm
She's still watching whatever is happening over the river and stays mantled over her fish. I hope Dad's not in some kind of fight but I think SR is just waiting for an opportunity to fly her fish to the trees without competition anywhere in the area.
Jean, I'd like to see at least one of the other chicks show up so we know they're still around.
6:28 pm
SR spreads her wings but she didn't go anywhere.

6:33 pm
SR hasn't bothered eating any of her fish. She has been too busy chattering at whatever she sees off the nest.

BET, I was pretty sure that was Dad making a quick stop in case there had been any danger to the nest right after he delivered the fish. You can still see the damage on his right wing.
Do you suppose SR thought he was going to take the fish from her so she reacted the way she did ? That was the impression I got.

It looks like SR can't make up her mind whether or not to leave the nest. Something riverside is bothering her for sure.
6:41 pm
Her focus has changed now toward the zoo area.

6:43 pm
Finally she has a bite to eat .

I'm sorry to say that I feel that the assaults on Dad continued as and after he had healed and that is why our wise Mom chased him off the nest. She knows that they can not allow direct attacks on the nest as they are basically sitting ducks there. If you watched Hellgate that is what happened.
Sr has always been super cautious and she watched the goings on intensely. Wisdom is often the better part of valour and thats why I think she is a survivor. Of course we will never know.
It took forever for Sr to begin eating that fish tonight so she probably is also not starving!
