NCTC Shepherdstown, West Virginia - Bald Eagle Cam
http://www.fws.gov/nctc/cam/eaglecam.htm
This is a still cam that refreshes every 30 seconds and is on 24 hours a day.
There's also streaming video with sound - http://outdoorchannel.com/eaglecam/ - during the nesting season.
Liberty and Belle have been in this location near the Potomac River since late 2002, built their nest mostly in late 2003 and early 2004, and Belle laid her first egg February 14, 2004. The pair raised two chicks in 2004, one in 2005 and three in 2006; they had three eggs in 2007 but none survived the spring storms; they raised three chicks in 2008; they laid three eggs in 2009, but only one hatched - and that chick fledged successfully.
Based on past experience, look for eggs in the first half of February, chicks in mid-March, and fledging in early June.
2009-2010 Season:
- adults seen: reported October 25
- streaming video on: January 20
- eggs laid: maybe February 2, 10:15 pm (seen February 3, 7:30 am); February 6, 2:12 pm
- eggs lost: there was a major storm with over 20 inches of snow; despite Belle's valiant effort to keep the nestbowl dry, the the towering piles of snow around her ended up burying the eggs
- third egg laid: February 9, 5:46 pm
- egg at risk: another foot or so of snow fell shortly after the egg was laid; Belle incubated it through the night, but it was left uncovered a number of times in the days that followed
- fourth egg laid: February 13, 2:42 pm
- third egg likely lost: only one egg has been seen after February 23
- fourth egg hatched: March 21, 3:48 pm (36 days)
- fledge: June 14, 7:24 am (85 days)
- first return to nest: June 16, 7:27 pm (2-1/2 days away)
- last seen: July 15, 7:00 am

You're welcome, Mary,
To myself, I call this nest the "Valentine Nest" since Liberty and Belle had their first egg on February 14, 2004.
Don't you just love the way JudyB sets up bios on the 1st page of our "Other" nests? She has made it so easy for new viewers to learn about each nest. I depend on those 1st page bios to refresh my memory all the time.

Yes I love the way they are set up! I've gone back and read up on quite a few of the nests to refresh my memory and will read the rest when I have the time. It's wonderful way, especially to those new to a nest, to learn something about it before they watch it!

Thanks.
I was forever looking back for details about this or that, so when I first became a mod, I volunteered for this area with a thought of standardizing the first posts and including all the information I was forever looking up. Glad to hear it's helpful for other folks!
There's an eagle in the nest - not sure which one. I'm guessing this will be the next nest to have eggs, though both Norfolk and Sooner Lake are on similar schedules, and CalTrans isn't far behind. It's a little early compared to other years, but they have a nice little nest cup prepared and they're making regular visits.
I am keeping my eye on this nest, just in case.
