Looks like he brought her breakfast again, and now he's standing by while she checks out the nest bowl. Looking forward to seeing your video tonight, CAL - work does get in the way. Grin

Just saw a bit of bonding. It sounds as if there may be some bad weather heading their way, so I'm hoping they'll wait a few days - but it does seem as if they're close to nesting. Nodding yes

Neither snow nor sleet....

According to the Shepherdstown blog, they think she laid the egg around 10:14 - 10:24 last night, and they got their first glimpse at 7:30 this morning. Mom Belle had been keeping the area dry during the day yesterday, so I guess she knew the egg was on the way.

Poor Belle is almost invisible now:

She was facing the other way a few minutes ago, then stood up and carefully shook off the snow - and has now spread out her wings a bit more to protect a larger area of the nest.

Her first egg was probably laid around 10:30 pm on the 2nd, so three days will be sometime tonight.

Added: the snow that was filling the nest two days ago had all melted or blown away - so she did have a day or two without snow in the nest between storms.
