Just as I was about to shut down the cam Dad arrived and dropped a long piece of bark onto Mom. After a bit of maneuvering she was able to shake it off.

BET, you likely caught this on video.

I'm very happy that the inch and a half or so of snow that has accumulated on my lawn..trees and deck has missed the nest. At 1.30 pm it finally stopped but my rain barrel is overflowing once again and the pool it collects in has started to freeze.

Mom moved away shaking and twisting trying to get the bark out of her wing area

This last contortion did the trick.

PS: The same photographer from yesterday was out taking pictures again - At least the man was wearing the same jacket so I presumed it was the same person. I wonder where he will post the photos - that is if he does.

PS

I think the photographer captured Dad inbound with the bark.

Poor Mom...thanks Judy and Bet.
2.15 pm Mom returned to the empty nest with Dad popping in just before 3. At 3.08 Mom is alone again...just hanging out.

Dad returned shortly and acted like there was a threat but he was gone again by 3.20.
Mom watches the river from mid-nest at 3.25 pm. There is someone at river's edge in front of the nest moving right.

He does manage to cover it and brood for a few minutes before Mom took over again. At least she let him have a bit of a turn.

I do wish the nest bowl hadn't gotten so soggy wet this am. They could use a bale of hay somewhere down near the nest.

PS AT 7:06 another mating took place.
