Jean, I had a terrible thought after we were talking about SR being so overly cautious leaving the nest the past few days. Do you suppose JR and MID may have been in a fight which has scared SR so much that she is fearful each time she leaves the nest ? Even when she's on the nest she doesn't seem very relaxed at all. At one time she'd even lay down for a quick rest but she hasn't been doing that at all either. She is always "on" when she's home, either chattering or half mantled as if there are intruders nearby. Maybe there are .
I wish so much that this was an operational ptz camera so we could look around to see what happens there.

... I must head to work now. Byebye

Senior landed

Spent her time looking about and squawking.

She suddenly spied something to the left of the nest and took off after it - or maybe for it if a fish was there.

Good morning Judy and Bet. That was a very short visit from Sr this morning. I finally got the cam to stay up just after 9.00 am so luckily saw her too. When I tried just after 7.30 I just got a view of an empty nest with the spinning wheel so gave up after awhile. Faint

Judy we will never know what has spooked Sr so badly but tough competition for fish would be my best guess. Hopefully not between Jr and Middy but..Dunno

Sr landed

And within the second was off again.

But then landed on the right side of the nest

Why? Perhaps she didn't like that big stick that is laying across the nest and would prevent her from quick access to any potential fish delivery.

12 minutes and she is still waiting - but then she is known to wait for hours.

Well Sr didn't wait that long this time Bet as she was off again at 10.20 am after pecking at the grass and plastic bag mid-nest. She hasn't looked so fearful on the nest this morning. Hopefully she is gaining more confidence. fingers crossed

Hi Jean

I am leaving for town soon. PRedicted to be 105 in the valley today, 110 tomorrow and maybe 111 Sat.

My stream stopped again at 10:21 just after activity on the nest. I have to wonder about that - it often happens like that., EnMax should provide a separate phone line and internet connection for their stream, not try to utilize the Zoo's and overload it.

Bye Bet. Byebye Try to stay cool if you can.

The nest was still empty at 10.42 am and I didn't look in until 10.53 and Sr was there on the west side again. Besides looking for a parent she preened extensively which is a good sign. Sr has been more active so her feathers aren't so perfect and need attention. Cheers

At 11.20 am Sr exited to the right once again and immediately in flew one then two then three magpies. Two minutes later they were gone and the nest was empty once more.

The nest was still empty at 11.55 am but Sr was on the se corner when I looked in at 12.28 am. She looks a bit damp to me and preens again remaining on the east side of the nest before flying out at 1.02 pm.

Though Sr looks like she could use a fish now she remained calm and much more relaxed today. Left thumb up Hopefully she is getting some fishing lessons and will be rewarded soon.
