Jean, I just saw your report about a fish being left on the nest by SR. It's gone now so either she or someone else has taken it away.

Today at work I was chatting with someone who drives in from Kimberley to work each day and passes an osprey nest near the St. Mary's river. I asked if the osprey have been there and he says he hasn't seen them around for almost a week now. They were still there when I drove out to the airport on the 16th so this makes me more convinced now than ever that Middy and Jr migrated early. They likely followed other young osprey that were making their way south.
I'm also wondering if all the forest fire smoke this year has had something to do with their leaving

here is the left over fish

I don't know when it left as I fell asleep That's what really hot weather does to me. The cam stream froze so no record until you got home Judy

BET, I wouldn't worry about catching anything recording. I don't think there's been much happening from the looks of things. I've been restarting the camera constantly since I got home from work and it stalls out every few minutes. Frustrating.
I hear you about the heat. It's 34C (93F) in Cranbrook right now and this is forecast to last at least another week. All I've heard for two days straight are water bombers flying overhead.
I can't even begin to imagine how you can stand it when it's even hotter where you are.

4:19 to 6:40 p.m. there has been absolutely nothing to report. No birds.
Because Dad and SR are the only two spotted at the nest today should we assume that Mom has likely migrated too ?

Yes every time I looked in after coming home I found an empty nest so far. If Mom is still here I'd expect her to come in today and linger on the nest but she did a bit of that while the chicks were still here last week. And besides she was doing double duty with the injury to Dad and didn't have the luxury of time for much contemplation this year. As usual I'm not ready to see them leave so am still holding out hope.

Just as I was about to give up restarting the camera and seeing no one at all come to the nest SR arrived. Lots of chattering and excited about something.

7:18 pm
She calms down for seconds at a time while watching the zoo area and then resumes chattering. Maybe she's calling for a fish.
7:32 pm
She appears to be very calm now as she watches the river area.

The stream is still freezing. I just restarted for the umpteenth time and Senior is on the nest squawking

PS: I sis not get my kitty today due to many reasons but heat playing a part in it.
