Hi Judy - I have two dogs and getting themn to accept the kitty is going to be a challenge. I am hoping it won't take them too long to accept a newcomer to the house. My old kitty was outside only and this one I want inside and eventually both in/out.

Senior comes flying in but the LA already has the fish

LA drags it to the far rim It is a good size fish. He takes a couple of bites and then flies off with it before Senior can make an attempt to steal it.

Senior stayed on the nest - chattering away until 12:05 when she gave up and flew off.

A chick arrived and I don't think this is one of ours. I thought at first it was SR but then the head markings don't look much like hers or either JR or MID's.
This chick kept looking all directions outside of the nest then flew off shortly afterwards.

BET, what do you think ? I took 3 s'caps. It never did turn to face the camera so there's no way to know if it was male or female. I'm still hoping it was SR.

Images from this mornings fight

9:36am Junior on the nest when second chick flies in. The head markings seem quite dark - more than Middy's. But - I am not certain.

Junior takes offense - Now Junior and Middy have always gotten along so this is a surprise to me

BET, thanks for catching the full fight this morning. No way could I keep up to that doing screen captures as it happened.
I think we must have strangers passing through the area which isn't a surprise because we had the same type of thing going on last year as well. The nest is located at the end of two channels of the Bow River with Nose Creek running along the east side of it. Prime location for lots of fish and hungry chicks are going to be opportunists.

A second chick arrived - I thought at first it was Senior but maybe it was the second chick again. Junior was in no mood to allow any chick on the nest. After the chick crashed into Junior on landing, Junior backed up - glared at the chick and then leaped on her back. Jr succeeded in driving her off. He then stayed on the nest for awhile longer - flew off at 9:49

ClappingClappingClappingClappingClappingClappingClappingBravo Way to go BET ! You have so much patience to capture all of that. Very much appreciated ! But it was a brutal fight and I do feel bad for the chick that was under attack no matter if it was ours or a stranger.

.... I'm going to be in and out. I have things I have to get done today because I go back to work tomorrow. Holidays are all too short.
