Osprey returned with a large flopping fish. No front view. The O spent some time looking all about as if looking for his/her mate. The magpie decided to challenge the Osprey

BET, thank you so much for catching the arrival of the first osprey this season.
It is 11:15 a.m. and he/she is still perched on the river side of the nest with a fish. I can't stay to watch unfortunately -- I'm on my lunch break.
I just wish whoever it is would turn around so we could distinguish exactly who it is but the glimpse of the front of the head makes me think this is likely Mom.

I wish Enmax would pull the cam back just a smidge so we can see the entire bird.

11:50 am wave

Thanks Bet for your post and s'caps with the good news. The osprey remains at the river side of the nest as in your picture Judy and I have to think that it is Dad waiting with a fish for Mom. Of course can't be sure as we can't even see the head with the cam placed as it is.Sad Whoever it is they seem very comfortable on this nest!

I'm sorry I can't be here all day either but will be in and out.

The really BRASSY Magpie landed on the nest and kept moving closer and closer to our O. He was visibly yakking at the Osprey. Finally he reached out and bit the Osprey on the tail feathers

It got the O to turn around and threaten the Magpie who flew down on the underside of the nest box. It gives us a front view of the O - Finally

Definitely looks like Mom. The head markings are hers from what I can see.

Yes, Judy and she is looking very good this year. I realized before she turned that the back was not sleek enough to be Dad. Let's hope he is also back very soon, although we have a cool week ahead with perhaps snow and below freezing on Friday.

What a cheeky magpie, thanks for the s'caps Bet, demonstrating why they are not too popular with westerners. NO

1: 10 pm Mom is checking out the zoo trees, I wonder if she travelled with Dad again? It would be so neat if we knew where our pair spent their winters though it would be unusual if they were together.

Monday April 10 2017 around 1pm. Not the greatest vantage point from across the Bow River by Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery, but all I could manage today.
So exciting ! thank you all!
