This chick has been on and off the nest several times in the past couple of hours, waiting and waiting

At 11:01
He had taken an alarm stance, flown off and quickly returned

Here comes his reason

He quickly secured the fish

He drug the fish to the river rim, ate a few bites and then flew off with it. Mom remains on the nest at this time.

Thanks Judy and Bet. It was still 22 C at 10 last night when I drove home. 27C at noon today and I saw Mom and one of the girls on the nest this morning looking warm and barely moving for the longest time.

Mom remained on the nest after Jr flew off with his fish and the youngster flew in sometime between 10.20-24 am. She mantled at mid-nest for a minute or so and then remained watching the treed area with Mom surveying the river until moving to the se corner at 11.50 am when Mom flew down to the river.

12.12 pm Our girl mantles and Mom flew in concerned but left again shortly afterwards. I am not sure how long the juvie stayed, she was gone when I looked in again at 12.36 pm.

1.00 pm Empty nest
3.15 pm Empty nest
3. 45 pm Empty nest

I have not checked often this afternoon but with the heat (30C ) it isn't likely they would be on the nest much this afternoon. NO

Senior has been back on the nest for some time. I don't know how long as the stream stalled

Suddenly she went into wing flaring defense mode

The reason soon landed

Senior was not happy with Middy's arrival and voiced her disapproval to her sibling

Who ignored her and moved over to the river rim - followed by Senior. The two are now occupied with the "where is dinner? watch"

5.58 pm I lost the cam and there are only two there at 6.01 calling. At 6.10 pm one was in the NE corner and one in SW. They moved suddenly at 6.15 and in flew the other LA and Mom who landed mid-nest. Sr in the ne corner won the prize - a big headless fish. Fish. Mom flew out at 6.18 and Senior dug in immediately. The others are ready to pounce.
