Good morning to all who are watching this nest. We still do not have an egg here.

These strong winds from the west are causing some wobbling of the camera.

6:38am to 7:25am Mom is in the nest bowl. She is down and I thought maybe there was an egg, but not so. Dad arrived. Mom flew off and Dad did too. One more false alarm. Whistling

Morning Donna,

Is there are particular number of days the egg is laid after mating? I check at least once a day and never see either on the nest so I know there is no egg.

Janet

wave Hi Janet,

I have observed several matings so far. The eagles will mate year round. When the female is fertile it will take 3 days for an egg for form. There may be sperm in the female reproductive organ (sperm can be stored there for 5 to 10 days) at the time of a mating. Then an egg could be laid in 3 days from that mating. Otherwise we could see numerous matings without an egg being laid. Hope that makes sense. We don't know the history of this pair so we just have to wait and see. The information I read said they usually lay the first egg in late January to mid February, but each season we learn something new. I keep watching in hopes that this is the day.

That makes perfect sense. I will just have to wait to see what happens. Thank you.

5:01pm to 6:04pm One and then both eagles work at the nest. Mom moved the nesting materials around and settled in the nest bowl several times.

Good morning Janet and all who follow this nest. It is a cold and snowy morning. The eagles are perched so I doubt there was an egg overnight.
