hoping for the old nest

This is an exciting report from you, Terri. Hope Liberty and Spirit continue to come to their old nest as egg laying time approaches.

I was down at the nest on Saturday, found Liberty on the Christmas Tree! She soared up real high and headed northwest, but returned a bit later and flew into the TB nest!!! She remained in there for 30 minutes or so, and then flew off to the northwest upriver again!

On Sunday, it was very windy & rainy out there, but I spotted both eagles tucked into the trees on a spot I call Goose Island!!! A lot of Canadian Geese nest on that Island, hence the name!

They didn't go to the nest at all, but it was almost too windy to fly out there yesterday!!!


This morning, Sue just reported that both eagles were in the nest at 9:00am!!! She said they did a lot of calling, no mating or nestorating, but in the Turtle Bay nest!!!!

Keep those fingers & toes crossed folks, this is the most hope we have had here in years!!!!

Things are looking good today for a potential return to the Turtle Bay nest!!! I saw both eagles this morning at 7:30am, Liberty was in the nest and Spirit was off to the side of the nest.


Sue spotted Liberty on the Christmas Tree at lunchtime, and then Kevin & Kristina reported that both eagles were at the nest this evening!!!

Kit & Mark headed down there and are documenting the action for us!!! Kit reported that the eagles were mating in the nest, and then working on the nest bowl together!!! Both are very good signs that they may have made their choice!!!
We can't wait to see Kit's pics & videos!!!

Our wish may be coming true folks!!!

The eagles were back at the TB nest again this morning(2/22/17) around 8:15 a.m.!

Liberty was doing a peal call so I'm not sure what was bothering her? She seemed to be looking around and tracking something in the sky?

I just want to say, "Does this seem a bit surreal to anyone else?!?"

I can hardly believe that on February 22, 2017 I am posting photos of Liberty & Spirit at the nest at Turtle Bay?!? What an amazing turn of events! I thought they might be down at their Riverview nest for 4-5 years, that seemed to be their pattern?

Now, we aren't counting on this happening quite yet, but this is still more hope than we have had in quite a while!!! So, I just want to stop for a minute and recognize that fact!!!!!
