Who Returns With A Stick First? Out & Back Together 10-21-16

Harriet and M15 continued to add sticks this morning, five while I was there. Maybe they were having a contest when both flew to the west pasture together, searched for the best stick and then flew back together with the sticks. Their bond deepens in everything they do.

NEST ACTIVITY CONCLUDED

5.58 Looks like H on the nest, just came in with what looks like pine. Then out to the porch

She went out to end of lower branch from the porch

6.22 Hear vocal call out

6.40 both are in the nest tree now

6.48 H leaves the porch/tree, M on the attic branch

Panning on cam 2 shows H at the pond edge

H leaves the pond edge and strolls around a palm tree trunk at the pond, at 6.54 she appears to be spooked away and heads to nest, 4 people are walking back from pond area on driveway carrying cameras, no bath or dip for H this evening I guess.

H in the nest and I think she may have brought a clump of grass/moss with her when she flew back to the nest from the pond.

7.04 H nestling down in the nest.

What is this in the nest?

I'm not sure what they are. I suspect some kind of seed pods attached to something they brought in. I see some different plant material in the nest that I haven't seen before.

7.08 M drops to the nest to join H, moving materials around.

7.11 M goes back to the attic after a discussion with H about where some of the nest material should go, H won of course.

7.12 H to the spike, then to the attic next to M, then back down to the nest and the material again.

7.14 bonding on the attic branch Smile

7.16 both on outer attic branch

7.31 IR's kick on and all is well on the tree with Harriet and M perched side by side probably for the night.
Thank You SWFEC team for all your observations!!

4:37 bonding.

6:15 I am at the nest. Harriet is perched in outer attic. Let me look for M, not in nest tree.

6:21 H vocal

6:35. No sign of M in snags or other pines in nest pasture. Too dark to see on west pasture tree branches. He could be laying in the nest...

6:48 vocals more frequent by H.

Making Your Presence Known~H & M Work While "Neighbors" Watch 10-22-16

With M15 close by but unseen, Harriet spent the first 1 1/2 hours of the morning vocalizing and tracking from the nest tree. The neighboring eagle pair was perched on the cell tower. All four sticks were grabbed from the trees adjacent the cell tower. M15 watched the pair from the nest as did Harriet when she was not watching them from a tree close to there. It appeared H and M were simply reinforcing to this close neighboring pair that this nest and area is theirs. According to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, who tracks Bald Eagle nests, M15 and Harriet have 133 neighbors in a 25 mile radius. Their closest neighbor is 1 mile away.

M15 adds a stick he grabbed from a tree in view of the neighboring eagles
