Just touching base and see Mom is back and on the egg - but that she was gone for over an hour.
Thank-you for the information Judy and Bev - fingers crossed all will be good with this first egg!
Mom just up calling and to change position - I didn't see an egg roll, but there could have been one...

I've noticed that it's not unusual when adults return to an egg that's been alone for a little while, they often incubate for a bit before turning the egg - not sure why, but most eggs do hatch, so I'm guessing it's a good plan.
12:32 am
Mom is up and calling again.

Moving back to the egg and circling around, then nestling in.

Here's Dad with a fish; Mom mantles and sounds as if she's telling him to go away - so she needs to update her vocabulary too. I do think Dad saw the egg, so hopefully he'll be back soon and take over. For now he flew out of the nest, though he could be on one of the branches.

12:42 pm
Mom is eating; egg is uncovered. I'm still seeing a few drops of water, but might be dripping more than raining. And now she's moving to cover the egg, having eaten at least part of her fish. Rain is picking up again, I think.
