Mom has been standing there quietly since Dad left,
enjoying that warm sunshine on her back, and closing her eyes from
time to time
Maybe Dad will come back with some lunch soon. Fish

Thanks Judy and Michelle for your lovely s'caps and the posts.Grin The picture looks great so thank you, Enmax for all you hard work on the cam. My only hope is that we can see more of the river soon.

I saw the mating attempt too and I'm not sure it was successful, - nor the one that just occurred not long before 3 pm.

To recap Mom left the nest not long after you , Michelle, when she finally vacated her corner perch at 1:32 pm. She flew in to the centre of the nest around 2:11pm and she seems very sleepy and inactive this afternoon.

Of course the sun has been beating down and we may set a record today as the temperature has already hit 27 C. Sunny Global warming has hit Alberta big time this year and last and we desperately need some rain.

Dad remains at the river front of the nest at 3:06 and has been busily preening.

I too can't get over how quickly this nest went up, and with soft grasses in the middle it appears ready for eggs that may come very soon. That is if they can get their act together. Smile

Now Dad has turned towards Mom as she perks up and looks downriver. He "attacks the bowed stick at the rear (zoo side) of the nest but that will not be easy to move. Now he hops on Mom's back but no tail lifting occurs. I'm wondering how good the fishing is with the river so low now.PuzzledPuzzled

Dad flew down to the river shortly after my last post which took 3 or 4 tries before it would post??

Mom remains on the left side of the nest, eyes closing as the many bikes and pedestrians go by below, not seeming to bother her at all. Amazing that Dad and Mom arrived together again this year, wouldn't it be wonderful to know where they passed the winter and if they were together for any or all of that time.....

It is wonderful to see them back again. Bye for now ...enjoy our birds everyone!

Hi All!!! I had my recorder going while I did some very needed yard work while I had the chance

I skimmed through the preceding posts and my video. Busy Boy is Dad Mating at least 4 different times in a couple of hours. I captured these images of wings that I liked.

Dad took off but returned in a few minutes

Janet, did you note the pylons with orange flags in the area below the nest. What are they? I can't see any chain or rope connecting them if they are a People Barrier.
