Well, I had a short break in between work shifts today, drove down to the river viewing area. around 1:30 pm

The platform is already gone, seemed so empty and sad..... and no other changes to report anywhere....yet.

it is about a 4 minute walk east on the pathway, down stream to stand across from the lodge area by the muskox enclosure, where somewhere they will re-erect the platform

the viewing distance from this south side of the river is much larger than where we used to watch from.....
I will have to check out the path on the other side/north side of river... one of these days when I have more time, (I've never figured out how where to park to walk in there) perhaps once we see where the new location is....the north path goes along the fencing that is visible in the scap below
(this pic was taken directly across the river from the lodge and enclosure area)

I took a video with my smart phone spanning up and down the river from point a to point b, but the data is huge and after an hour of trying to edit it to a smaller data amount, it was still too big to transfer to my lap top ....sorry friends. Not a big techie. Sad

I saw my first robin as I was leaving the area, a sure sign that spring is around the corner love

Hope everyone is doing well.

Michelle, thanks for taking the time to check out the new surroundings for us.
I'm not sure how much I like the idea of the nest being placed near the area of that path. A couple of years ago while we were visiting the zoo I walked to the fence line in the North American Wilds to take a peek at the nest. While I was there a couple were walking their dog along the path and the O's got quite upset that anyone was that close by, even though they were on the other side of the river channel. I suppose only time will tell how this will all pan out but I am trying to remain positive that they may love their new home.

Thank you for the up close images Michelle!

I have spent the past hour watching and video capturing a Canada Goose rearranging the Hellgate Osprey nest to suit her. She even defended it against an unseen visitor. So the time is fast approaching that the Canada's will arrive in Calgary and the O's not far behind.

Hi Judy and Bet, it was my pleasure, and not knowing ....was driving me nuts. I really hope all will turn out well too for our nest here.

Oh my....Bet, I can't believe how quickly they move on things like this in Montana! Wooh
Similar contraption that they also used at another platform close to the baseball diamond! not too far from there (maybe closer to the Dunrovin Ranch /Lolo, Montana nest)
....last season I think? Wow. It works

Hi Calgary Friends.....

It's kind of exciting that the osprey have a new location which hopefully they will like. I am hoping to actually join you this season so we can hope they find it quickly and are happy with their new digs.

Good morning All.

I was just reading on CBC news about the flood mitigation project at the Zoo. From what I read this will likely have a huge impact on the O family. Sad

In the meantime I am trying to remain hopeful that all will work out okay for them. fingers crossed
