Welcome Congratulations, Mom and Dad on your first egg of the season!

Thanks so much for your beautiful s'caps and news of the wonderful event. I feel badly that I can't be here much so far this year but look in when I can. Tuned in to see what your post at 12:50 pm shows, Judy. Dad was practically sitting on Mom's head and when she didn't budge I suspected an egg. Bravo

I finally got a look at the prettily mottled egg when Mom got up at 1:40 and she finally yielded the egg to persistent Dad ten minutes later. Mom returned to the nest at 2:08 pm but Dad is holding tight and Mom is enjoying the view from her perch on her favorite s.e. corner. Grin

Mom doesn't usually fully incubate the first egg in order that the eggs hatch close together but since it may drop just below the freezing mark tonight and tomorrow she may have to incubate this one more fully. It is 4 C right now and overcast, we may have a few flurries tonight. At 2:22 pm Mom is still standing looking out from the left side of the nest while our sweet papa enjoys his nest bowl.

Mom stirs and Dad "works" on the next egg and flies out, Mom rolls the egg before settling down on it at 2:25.

5:19 pm Dad moves off the egg, stands and looks a bit stiff, has Mom not been back yet? After 2 minutes Dad moves back to the bowl and he resumes incubating.
5:33 pm Dad does a p.s. off the river side of the nest. He rolls the egg and sits on it. Mom is giving Dad his fill of egg time this afternoon, perhaps more than he bargained for.Oh My
5:55 pm Dad's head falls forward, poor guy. Incubating is a tedious job. Smile

6:27 pm Dad flies down to the river leaving the egg exposed. Mom finally returns to the nest and incubates after turning their egg.

At 6:33 pm Dad is moving sticks on the nest and snuggling up to Mom, then pushing her off the egg.giggle
I didn't see him leave but four minutes later Mom was working around the egg with Dad nowhere to be seen .
Mom is incubating while watching the river below at 7:07 pm.
