Good morning, everyone! I have to admit I expect to find vultures in a desert-like setting, circling overhead while a dehydrated prospector is crawling slowly to towards town or the nearest mirage (too many Westerns when I was a kid, you think?). I certainly would not have expected them to be sitting on a perch in a marsh, waiting for a fish to drop by! Smile

I brought the cam up at 8:36 am to find an eagle in the nest.

Next refresh, there were two

And perhaps some new greenery

8:48 am

They are a handsome pair!

One has been staying at the nest while the other was in and out at least once - and now they have both left.

The pair laid their eggs earlier than usual last year - but looking back a bit, around the middle of January is generally when they lay the first egg, though it's also been as late as the end of January. But I'm thinking it may be soon. Smile

No additional visits, unless they were very quick.

Current view of the nest.

One is back.

And now both.

There are definitely still some issues with the cam - I've been getting black screens from time to time, and it seems that every other refresh is dark. But at least we can see them!

I noticed someone on a branch to the upper right at 2:35 pm

And into the nest a few minutes later.

And now both are there.

The one nearer the top of the screen might be eating - she (or maybe he) seems to have her head down on most of the refreshes, while the other is standing and looking around. There are a lot of eagles at Blackwater, so it makes since for one to keep watch while the other eats. Smile

Dad(?) has left, and I'm now very sure that Mom(?) is eating, though I haven't seen what's on the menu.

Both there at 3:17 pm

One still there working on leftovers at 3:34 pm - not actually sure if it's the same one.

And at about 3:54 pm I noticed that the nest was empty, though there had been someone there a minute or two earlier.
