I was thinking this would be very early - but somehow I don't think of this as a Florida-type southern nest - though now that I've checked the map, I see it is south of Berry College in Georgia.

(Note - the location of the NE Florida nest is not accurate - the location of that nest is not public, so I just picked a random spot in northeast Florida that looked as if there might be trees there.)

Looking back, I see that they laid eggs in January last year - but reading your great notes, Mary, I see that was late for eagles in Texas - and was their first year at this new nest - so it will be interesting to see what they do this year. (And I think I am not ready to think about the fact we're almost in December!)

I am glad they got the cam working - looks as if it will provide a great view of the nest!

From the cam FB page----

John Bunker Sands Wetland Center

Our Eagles made it into the Dallas Morning News Pictures of the year magazine! Mom, or Dad, is feeding the one chick born last year. Keep an eye on the eagle cam this year; they should be laying eggs in the next few weeks

Here is the one picture I got today of one of the eagles working on the nest before the cam went down. Frustration

I'm very afraid that those awful storms and tornados that hit the area surrounding Dallas the other day may have done some damage to the cam and/or the nest and the cam is down!! I will try to find out. Sad

This is what I was afraid of! Whistling

John Bunker Sands Wetland Center

We are having difficulties with the camera. Most likely because of the weather we had last week. We are having someone come and take a look at it in the next couple of days and hope to get it up and running soon. The eagles are not sitting on the nest so there are no eggs yet in case you are wondering.

No cam or any word on it yet but I did find this on FB today.

John Bunker Sands Wetland Center

Tom Fleming, a frequent visitor at the Center, was out with a super powerful camera lens and took this photo of the eagles during mating behavior.

Oh boy! This is what I was afraid of!!! sigh sign For the second year in a row we will not be able to watch these beautiful eagles~ Sad Here is the update from the Wetlands ~~

WETLAND EAGLE CAMERA UPDATE

On the night of December 26, 2015 the North Texas tornadoes Windy - hold on damaged the camera system and we are unable to get the camera back online during the current breeding season. We will periodically update the Eagles progress on our website and Facebook page. The pair of Eagles were not affected by the storms and they continue to heartily build up the nest in preparation for eggs. We invite you to enjoy the Wetland Center the first and third Saturday each month to observe the eagles first hand and experience the wetland habitat.

I will continue to post updates as they become available.
