Welcome to the 2016 Season of the Dunedin Osprey Cam!

The nest/platform is located on the Pinellas Trail near the Dunedin Stirling Links Golf Course in Pinellas County Florida.
The location is perfect because this is a heavily used trail for walkers, joggers and bikers. This makes for easy viewing from the ground for the public. Since education is a major part of this project, its location is easy for school groups, scout groups, etc. to visit.

Thank you HWF for featuring it on your web site along with a nest thread where we can post our observations, scaps and videos......giving us the opportunity to learn about these beautiful birds....

Weather Report

As a courtesy to viewers with slower internet connections, please limit the pictures in each post to no more than a total of 150,000 bytes (150KB), and please do not post animations (though it's fine to post a link to them). Incubation Period for eggs. 35 - 42 days.

Chicks fledge between 53 and 60 days old....

[*] Adults Retuned..Stirling Nov.7, 2015 at noon...
...Pinella was first seen on the nest Nov.22 at12:23pm..Here

[*] Eggs Laid.Egg # 1, Feb.20 at 5:51pm.. HERE ...... EGG # 2 .Feb. 23 at 2:24pm/.....HERE

Egg # 3 Feb , 26 at 6:07pm

[*] Eggs Hatched Egg # 1 hatched March 30 at 39 day

Egg#2 March 31 at 36 days

We don't know when the third egg hatched.... cam was off line for over two days...

Saw third hatch April 4

This cam went down and we had to depend on the Ground Observers Reports ........


May 22. 2016.. Sadly one chick was pushed out of the nest and died ..one other one fell out and was rescued and taken to Rehab ..

The ground crew reported that the only chick was flying around and doing great.


It makes me so sad to say that is the last season for this nest... the cam will not be streaming ..

It was a successful season on the Dunedin Nest ..Stirling and Pinella raised two beautiful chicks and both fledged successfully
