Quote by: my2petducksI have a question but first would like to thank all of the moderators and other users for the wealth of knowledge they provide to us everyday! All of the hours that are dedicated to this nest and others are greatly appreciated! I would also like to thank the Pritchetts for allowing everyone on their property so the entire world can learn the way of the eagles!
Now for my question....What does the "head up" gesture mean in eagle language? I have seen it referenced a lot lately.
Welcome to the forum my2petducks! I believe the expression "head up" refers to when adults point their heads straight up towards the sky to trill. They sometimes vocalize without doing this, but this is a common thing for them to do.
Volunteers do not necessarily have the time;............they have the heart..........Elizabeth Andrew

Thank you Jean! I thought maybe it had something to do with the courting they are doing right now. There's a lot to learn about these fascinating creatures!

Hello all,
Thanks for your thoughts and posts. Is the SA the same as last seasons FV? Is he capable of fathering chicks at his age? Will he be a nestorator and provider at his age? If they like each other I hope it works out! Harriet the Beautiful can attract a " younger man"! Lol.

Harriet is on the upper branch and another eagle(think the SA) is way out on the attic branch. Looks like they may be spending the night.

Hi All!
No Julie, the Sub Adult is also called Slim. FV/M15 is the one that is missing after altercation with Ozzie. I hope that clears that up, it's all kind of confusing.
Someone wiser would have to answer about Slim's abilitiy to father chicks.

Quote by: lmacThank you for the updates everyone. Good to know that Harriot appears outwardly more relaxed.
I notice elsewhere that many are now wishing for the return of M15. I don't but not through any malace but just being careful what I wish for. We very sadly saw what happened to Ozzie when all the wishing came true, I would hate to see this happen to another male at this nest. I also think the stress of that would not be good for Harriet. We often forget that Raptors can be quite highly strung as a species.
Excellent point! I am hopeful for a great future for Harriet and hope that there are no more deadly altercations between the males. I totally understand that premise of be careful what you wish for. You are very wise.
