I visited the above eagle nest area again yesterday with a friend. We did not see or hear either of the adults or one of the eaglets. The lone eaglet was out on the beach looking for something to eat. It flew to a small tree on the rock cliff and called out a few times.

It circled around the area then landed on another tree where it sat for awhile, calling out a few times.

It flew off, circled the area, then flew towards the nest tree.

The eaglet flew around the area again then landed in a tree up the hill behind the nest tree where it was when we left the area.

Due to the fact that I have been the sole contributor to this thread this past season, I will not be opening a new thread for the next season. I have renamed this thread to include the 2017 season.

There are 2 nests that I have been reporting on here and I will continue to watch the eagles when they return. If it looks like they are nestorating and using these nests in the new year, I will open dedicated threads for them for the 2016/2017 season.

Today I visited one of the nests I watched last year. This nest is on DND property and is not accessible to the public. One of the eagles was perched in a tree near the nest tree. Just before I left I saw the other eagle flying around over the nest, circling higher and higher. I managed to get one photo before it disappeared. I'll post some photos tomorrow.

A side view of the nest. Looks like the eagles need to do some nestorating Smile

This photo was taken with a cell phone from a distance & has been cropped
considerably. Both eagles perched above the nest.
