I visited the above new nest again last night. There were no adults or eaglets seen or heard around the nest site. I heard an eaglet calling from the vicinity of a small island offshore and a short while later an adult flew to the island and landed on a concrete block where I had seen one sitting on July 19th. I saw some movement beside the concrete block and then an eaglet appeared. It climbed up to the top of the rock and sat for awhile. The adult flew off and a few minutes later the eaglet had a poop then flew behind the island. I assumed it sat there because I didn't see it fly out.

Adult had just landed.

I posted on this nest 2 years ago here. The eagles did not produce any young last season but they have 2 beautiful eaglets this year. One eaglet was flapping its wings a few times today when I visited the nest site but the 2nd eaglet just sat on the little branch at the side of the nest screeping. One of the adults flew in and landed in the nearby perch tree and squawked a few times at the Turkey Vultures overhead. The 2nd adult flew over the nest site, circled around then flew off, hopefully to get some food for the eaglets.

Eaglet on small branch beside the nest; 2nd eaglet was behind the tree trunk.

A few final photos from a closer vantage point. I plan to visit this nest at least one more time this season.

I visited the nest I reported on earlier (above posts) with a friend who got word from the owners of the property that both the eaglets had fledged and were flying around the area. For the first 1/2 hour we could not find any eagles at all but heard the eaglets calling from the general vicinity of the nest tree. I happened to be looking up at the rock bluff near the nest tree and saw a white head amongst the bushes. I think the adult was eating something. Then we heard an eaglet squawking and saw a dark blob in a tree very close to the adult. It sat there the entire time we were there, which was nearly 3 hours. The adult in the bushes flew to a tree closer to the nest tree and we heard the 2nd eaglet squawking but couldn't find it. Then my friend happened to be looking when the eaglet pooped and finally spotted it. We think it had been perched there the entire time but it just blended in with the tree trunk.

The nest.

The adult's head was behind a branch so we couldn't get a clear view. It was preening when I snapped these photos.
