Some photos from today. Ma and Pa definitely have offspring in the new nest. Can't see them yet but I expect we will be able to very soon. It is a toss up to be at the beach observing and photographing or at the nest site but we know for certain from behaviour there are chicks this year. Nodding yes
And so congratulations are definitely in order for Ma and Pa Sidney.

Visited Ma and Pa today. Ma was in the nest. I think I saw evidence of a flatlet eaglet. Very warm day. Extremely low tide. Lots of intruder action at the beach and at the nest. Pa was busy chasing and defending and Ma did a lot of squawking.
I am not sure if that is an eaglet or prey to the left?

Lots of midshipmen and other marine delicacies were exposed on the beach due to the low tide. Eagles and seagulls were delighted. This may also account for the number of intruders though. Poor Pa.

Ma (I think) zoning in

You can see how big midshipmen are in this photo. This gull had a hard time with it and eventually an intruder eagle stole it.

A nudibranch? Or sea snail. Or sea cucumber. First time we have seen any at Pat Bay beach and we didn't see just one! We saw 5 or more! Fabulous!

Visited Ma and Pa Sidney today. It was a strange day weather wise. Everything is topsy turvy in our world.

There was no life visible in the nest. No adults, no kidlets. But then as we were leaving we saw Pa on a perch nearby and Ma on another one as well. They were keeping an eye on the nest and possibly us too.

They are definitely guarding and feeding in the nest and so I am absolutely sure they have offspring this year Left thumb up but I cannot confirm that photographically yet. Soon , I hope.

That is the good news. The bad news is two of the three trees left in the new subdivision are dying already! No surprise Mad Also there was an aggressive adult intruder as well as a sub adult. And the ospreys are back too as well as numerous Turkey Vultures.

Pictures and maybe some videos to come.
