Thank you Kay.
Nevertheless I am quite sure your friends witnessed a rare treat . Hence the reference to fortuitous timing and surely far more impressive than stationary treetop eagle sightings no matter how many they may have already seen.
I was not sure that was Ma, especially from the flying style and behaviour which was more typical of Pa, but I think from your pix it may very well be. It also explains why she took off when you and your friends approached her and got too close for her comfort. She is not as relaxed as Pa. I always give her very wide berth.
I will post some pictures later.
There is no activity in the Epicure nest. I have received confirmation from my contact that Ma and Pa have not been seen at that nest. We did some eagle scouting and Ian's keen eye has spotted a new nest. It will be almost impossible to see when the leaves are out on the tree. This will be their 4th nest in the 10 years we have been monitoring them.
Good thing we did not install a cam after all. All things happen for a reason.
Except for a short tandem soaring that afternoon we did not see Ma and Pa together so I expect the new nest is active.

Here is the Epicure nest looking very abandoned. It does not look like Pa nestorated here at all.

Here is what may be the new nest. It looks very much like the Anderson Hill nest at the beginning. I didn't think it would amount to much but it certainly did.

You are very welcome Elaine. Ma and Pa are my first love and I monitor them regularly as well as a few others less regularly. They are all beautiful to watch.

Thank You Elaine.

I took my son out to the ferry this morning and of course I took my camera Wink Pa was perched on the tallest tree at the south corner of the Epicure property. He was preening and several times looked towards the far end of the First Nations property where their other perch trees are/were Mad I didn't see Ma anywhere; she was probably in the new nest Left thumb up I'll be back soon with a few pics.

A few pics of Pa this morning. Not good quality; it was very dull and spitting rain Sad

Morning visit today and got a snap of Ma Sidney incubating in her new nest. And doesn't this nest just smack of Pa's architectural style!

A short time later Ma took a break . Where is Pa? I presume he relieved her.

Yes. Here is our Pa reporting for duty. What a pair. We wish them the best this nesting season. It is looking very hopeful.

Visited Pat Bay yesterday at very low tide. Did not anticipate the weather would be so mercurial and got caught in a major downpour on the beach a long way from the car. Made a break for it when the sun came out again and just made it back to the car.
It was a strange day other wise too. There were eagle intruders , mature and immature, keeping Pa busy defending his territory. Lots of chases and tweeting. When we left the territory was all clear.
There is a herring run on the coast near Ladysmith and it may be extending this way attracting lots of unattached eagles. Even the Great Blue Herons were at waters edge in groups of 5 - 10.
Not a good photo op day Sad

Definitely still them ostrich! Ma is a mature lady now, that is for sure. And Pa is such a devoted mate. Ma apparently keeps wanting to move and Pa is more than willing to oblige. He loves to build. I have not seen you here for a long time so thanks for your post.
And sunny, too. Smile
