It was a beautiful day for a visit except there were hydro workers with cranes causing disruption and interrupted traffic flow . Ma and Pa seemed to be keeping their distance.

Saw Ma and Pa Sidney. They both seem fine but apparently not nesting yet, at least not at the Epicure nest, although Pa's tail feathers are quite brown .Back later with photos.

I visited the area around Pat Bay today. I did not see any eagles the first time I went by but spotted one in a tree on the new construction site next to the Pat Bay Trading Post when I went back after visiting the winery nest area. The eagle had it's back to the road and was half hidden in the branches but when I walked down the path beside the new houses I saw that it was a sub-adult. The top half of the tree I photographed Ma & Pa in the last time I was there broke off in the wind a couple of days ago. One less tree for them to perch in Cry Here's the sub adult and the perch tree.

I went back to Pat Bay again after I had visited the Roberts Bay nest but still didn't see any eagles around the beach area or on the Epicure property but as I was driving up W. Saanich Rd. past the nest area an adult eagle was flying over the road and kept on going towards the market area. As I was passing the new construction area on my way back I spotted an adult perched at the top of a spindly branch on a tree across from the construction area. It eventually flew across the road and landed in one of the trees at the front of the construction property and it looked like Pa. It was a bit windy and Pa was hanging on tight. I took a few pics but the sun had disappeared by that time and the lighting was not good.

Here are my pix from yesterday.

All of Pa.

Ma was in a perch tree on the construction site with her back to us the whole time. She was quite well hidden amongst the foliage. She must have been having a major snooze.

As already reported, there was a sub adult in the area. We saw it perched overlooking the bay along West Saanich Rd but did not stop for a picture.

Pa looked very uncomfortably perched here but he remained there a long time.

As I mentioned yesterday early evening, before sassyk posted last night, Pa's tail feathers look brown which may indicate he has been nestorating but there is no evidence of activity at the Epicure Nest. There was no one at Epicure yesterday and the farmers across the way were busy burning a pile of debris so we did not bother them.

I would not be surprised if they have built a new nest somewhere.

I am sitting on a stick, you best take your picture quick,
or I might stay sitting on a stick, for an indeterminate amount of time.

We have no clue where you might be nesting, but we know you are not resting,
as you are sitting on a stick!

And thank you Lynda.......

As some of you may know, we recently lost one of our original HWF members who joined us in 2006. I have just posted David Hancock's tribute to Terry Baker/terrytvgal. It can be found on our home page here:

Karen

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Terry. She always struck me as a kind, considerate and sweet person.
Her signature line was one of the best. I'm sure she will be missed so much. I'm sure David was so grateful for all her help.

In fact David has a forum full of kind, caring and considerate people in it. Everyone has always been so kind.

While I am posting in this forum I would like to thank Elle and Sassyk for all their pictures and videos of Ma and Pa Sidney. They will always be special to me.

I visited the Pat Bay area yesterday. One of the eagles flew in and landed in a tree at the edge of the beach then flew to another tree beside the new construction area. It looked like Ma and she called and called and kept looking back towards the new construction area. She sat there for awhile then flew to a tree beside the beach. She flew around over the beach area, swooped down and grabbed something then landed in a different tree a little ways down the road. She eventually flew to another tree further down the road where she was when I left. I'll post some pics later.

What fortuitous timing again sassyk. I hope your companions were suitably impressed.
I was also at Pat Bay for the entire afternoon yesterday. I will post pictures taken later in the afternoon to avoid duplication.

elle my friends have seen Ma & Pa, as well as dozens of other eagles around the lower Van. Island area, many times; all eagles are impressive to them (and to me). None of us noticed you 'rock climbing'; we were all watching Ma Wink
