That baby is indeed getting big. I guess what amazes me currently is that they stay in one place pretty much. So....you can identify the same baby in a large group of penguins.
They have assigned standing.

This is a particularly pretty penguin. It seems to me as if the white band around the eyes is a little bigger as the other penguins have.




I notice that most penguins lie or sit so that they look into the same direction. It depends on the wind direction I think this. In my picture the wind seems to blow from the east. The parents place {reposition} the young penguins so that the babies are sheltered from the wind

Hi Bev and Ferenz, thank you so much for your great pictures.

Each day afresh I´m fascinated how fast the little penguins are growing.

Bev : The time on the penguin cam is UTC ( Coordinated Universal Time )

Please take a look to the first post of our penguin thread. I have written a short report about the times on Gars O´Higgins Station.

CAMERA TIME ( UTC ) - 8 hours = VANCOUVER TIME ( PST )
CAMERA TIME ( UTC ) - 5 hours = MAINE TIME ( EST )

Your last post was made on 3:11am ( UTC ) - 5 hours = 22:11pm ( EST ) but
..........................................22:11 pm ( EST ) -2 hours = 20:11pm ( Chilean time or Gars O´Higgins time)

It is really very difficult to understand. I always have my problems with the many different time zones.

All penguins look in the same direction.

It's amazing coming here and seeing this "transport to a different world". they all stand the same way sometimes, sometimes not. It is most likely wind direction for baby protection.
A few pictures ago with the ice flows was just incredible.
We are treated here, aren't we?

Ferenz and Lianaliesma, thank you so much for your stunning pictures

Lianaliesma: Despite the two eggs being laid 3-4 days apart from each other and a incubation time of 34 - 36 days , the chicks always hatch within a space of 24 hours. I guess the second eggs isn´t fertilized and the sibling will not hatch !
