We have a war going on. Two crows vs Dad --- Dad has been chasing them off and they keep coming back to the nest. At one point I thought I saw two osprey but things are moving so fast I'm not sure if I really did. It doesn't help that the camera feed isn't clear.

OMG --- those birds are huge. I'm suspecting they're ravens and not crows but I don't recall ravens ever being in the Calgary area. Dad looks so small compared to them.

I don't recall ever seeing crows bothering this nest until now. Do any of you happen to remember ?
I hope they move on before nesting.

What an exciting day!!!! I have been trying to play catch up from the video I had running (before I got up) and current activity.

There was a fight with the Magpie first off. And now the fight with the crows/raven (JD please id) Judy there were 3 of those black birds. I have it all on video. And unfortunately I do not have the expertise to edit and post video. So it's a matter of picking out the best frames to post. Which I will do. It will take some time.

I have the comparison photos from last year to start with. A yes Judy, I agree, this is Dad.

The Magpie battle!

The Mag actually flew at Dad in attack mode. I am just posting the most important ones due to our limitations. And then it did come back later for another attempt to oust Dad.







PS: The geese down at the rivers edge have been having challenge attacks with each other this am too. Must be something in the air in Calgary!!

My first images of the arrival. The stream - feed - what ever it's called was weird. I guess it would be called very slow transmission

Dad has to be exhausted from his migration journey and now having to fight for his nest. Very worrisome

The war with the crow/raven has continued off and on. I don't think Dad has had a chance to go fishing., His crop is still flat. He really needs some quiet time to recover from his long journey.

Thank you Judy and BET for the thorough coverage of today's events...
I was watching live as Dad kept having to fight off those crows....that was very stressful to watch, and felt so bad for him
as they were relentless, but it was good to see Dad back resting for long bouts on the nest this afternoon
without them....crossing fingers that they will leave him be. Valiantly protecting his territory...what a guy

Now the cold rainy weather has moved in....I hope we see Mom soon
