One osprey was reported from the Lafarge area early last week, that may be what prompted Enmax to aim the camera back on the nest, Bet. I do feel sorry that our osprey have to rebuild from scratch every year, I noticed that some of the Montana nests have guards placed over them in the fall and then removed when the osprey come back so that might be good to investigate.

Wow! An osprey in Calgary already!

I wish more of the nesting poles in Calgary were cleaned off. The ones at MacLeod trail and Canyon Meadows are not cleaned off and we might have seen a goose on one of them this week. One year, because of an osprey nest there was a pole fire in the area so Enmax erected the first nesting pole. At the Lafarge plant, geese are on the osprey nesting pole and last year the osprey had to nest on a tall tower of some sort. Sigh.

The Montana nest guards are such a good idea.

Snow in Calgary today but it is warming up. I have to keep watching the camera.

Hi Christine. wave

Yes the sighting was reported on the bird line one week ago today, but I find it curious that it hasn't appeared on anyone else's lists after that. I could have missed it of course as there are quite a few lists on-line. I do hope the geese haven't taken over the platforms but there have been heated territorial disputes between pairs of geese in Fish Creek Park so you can't really blame them for seeking out a safe nest. Smile

I haven't put this site up much yet but I guess it won't be long before they are home.fingers crossedfingers crossed

Wednesday April 8

Well the only activity that I have seen is the geese down on the river. But finally, at least a little activity on the nest.

One of our Magpies stopped in to check out the status

wavehi everyone,

I finally clued in and came to the new forum. Just a little slow. It is great to hear the zoo nest is clear and thee geese will not settle in. BET, the scaps you captured of the geese are really cool!

Now we just have to hope enmax moves the camera when it is time for the return!

Enjoy the weekend.

***It's been so long I have to relearn how to post all over again. I know I had help figuring it out last year & the instructions are likely in last years forum somewhere. For now I hope this will stick!! Looking forward to another season of suspense & excitement. I hope to get a trip or so down to the nest-site over the coming months. Thanks to all of you who put so much time & effort into making this site so informative.
